As we head into the last 30 days of the Summer of 2010, there is much to reflect upon and look forward to in our lives. We have the opportunity to help one and other traverse the touchy and delicate economic and societal situations we collectively find ourselves. More and more of us are finding ourselves immersed in the many social networks touching our lives. Even those who may have no desire to be "online" are forced to make the adjustment as their goods and services are available, only online.
The following is a short, seven minute segment from the AARP show, Inside E Street. I am honored they asked me to participate in their show on personal data protection and then so graciously made the content available for all on their website to which I link. I speak to those issues which I believe are amongst the most important and perhaps the most basic for those of us in that "over-50 crowd." Please take a moment, watch, listen and spread the message on staying safe online, by visiting the AARP website directly (Inside E Street) or just watching the piece embedded below.
I also had the pleasure of being hosted on the Seattle based Bob Rivers Show (KZOK 102.5 FM) to discuss online safety and security. The discussion covered a lot of ground over the course of the 30 minute segment, which the shows producers edited into an eight minute video piece, which I provide below. To view the piece and the show's accompanying notes, you may wish to visit the show's website directly (Bob Rivers Show).
In addition to the two aforementioned opportunities to speak to online safety and security. I also was honored to keynote the Social Media Club Seattle monthly meeting in late June. I shared some thoughts on the security, privacy and safety concerns with respect to social media engagements. The sold-out event was favorably reviewed by multiple attendees and the entire 60 min presentation (including Q&A) was recorded. The SMC Seattle's inteview with me and a recap of the presentation can be found on their website directly (SMC Seattle). To view my talk, you can see it below - I begin at about minute 13.
I continue to contribute to my personal blog "Veritate et Virtute" which continues to be defined as: "A personal blog. I speak from the heart and shine light upon the many safety, security and humanitarian issues." I will not shy away from touching difficult topics, and give voice on behalf of those who can't speak for themselves. And you can also find me as a regular contributor to the following: Huffington Post , CSO Online's Cisco on Security and infrequently on the CIsco Security Blog.
